Newsletter privacy information
Last updated: 31 October 2026
OilFocus, London, UK, is responsible for the Daily Briefing subscription information described here. Contact us at info@oilfocus.com.
When you sign up for the OilFocus Daily Briefing, we use your email address to send a confirmation request and, after you confirm, the daily briefing at 7:00 am UK time. No account or password is needed. Providing an email address is optional, but we cannot deliver the briefing without one.
What we collect and why
We collect the email address you submit, your subscription and confirmation status, and delivery or unsubscribe information. We rely on your consent to send the briefing. We use limited technical information to protect the signup form and keep the service reliable, based on our legitimate interest in preventing misuse. Subscription information is not used to make automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects.
How email delivery works
We use Brevo to manage newsletter contacts, confirmation emails, delivery, unsubscribes and delivery reports. Your email address is sent to Brevo when you submit the signup form. For information about Brevo's handling of data, see Brevo's privacy policy.
Stopping emails
You can unsubscribe using the link in any briefing. Unsubscribing stops future briefings; a suppression record may be retained to keep an unsubscribed address from being sent further newsletters. Contact us if you want us to review or delete your personal information.
You can withdraw your consent at any time. This does not affect processing that took place before withdrawal. We keep your active subscription while you want the briefing. After you unsubscribe, we retain only records needed to respect your opt-out, demonstrate consent, resolve delivery problems or meet applicable obligations. The retention period depends on those purposes; you can contact us to request a review.
Signup protection
Our signup form uses a temporary session cookie to validate requests. To limit repeated requests, the server keeps time-limited records containing hashed email and network address values rather than those addresses in plain text. These records are pruned after 24 hours when the signup protection runs. Hosting services may also keep their normal access logs.
Service providers and reports
Hostinger hosts the website, and Brevo processes subscription information and delivers emails for us. Brevo provides delivery and campaign reports, which may include open and click information depending on its settings and your email software. We do not sell the subscriber list or share it with Buffer or LinkedIn for the daily social posts.
Our service providers may process information outside the UK. Their privacy and data-processing information explains their processing locations and applicable transfer safeguards: Brevo privacy policy, Brevo terms and data-processing information and Hostinger privacy policy. Contact us if you need further information about your subscription data.
Your choices and rights
You can ask to access, correct or erase your personal information, restrict its use, object to processing based on legitimate interests, or receive a portable copy where applicable. These rights depend on the circumstances. Send requests to info@oilfocus.com; we may need to verify that the address belongs to you.
If you have a concern, please contact us. You can also complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office.
